The Dolmabache Gallery in Istanbul, Turkey had an exhibition by the group - International Artists for Peace, which was visited by the Prime Minister of Turkey. You will remember that Sevgi Urum from the group exhibited in Ores Gallery earlier this year (2009) The exhibition was held in a large space and included paintings and sculptures, with photography in a separate hall. Dimitris Danis presented 'In the Garden of Medea' a monologue by John Stuart Anderson which was performed by Ithaki actress, Tomi Dendrinou. She used the space of the gallery for the performance, which was very atmospheric and moving, and this was of course produced by Dimitris Danis.

The photographs show Dimitris Danis preparing the gallery beforehand, then introducing the play (which Tomi performed in Greek, as she did on Ithaca, from a translation by Dimitris Danis taken from the original in English. Then some photographs of the performance, moving around the space and the sculptures contained in it. There is also a group photo of some of the artists in the group, and finally Dimitris presenting Tomi with an engraved plaque as memory of the event.

For Dimitris Danis, the road from Ithaca to Turkey has been long and rewarding. With a successful performance of 'The Garden of Medea', Dimitri has left his mark in Istanbul and on his fellow performers of the Artists For Peace Group.
